I'm so excited to share some moments with the lovely Bedford Trio!
Founded in late 2016, the Bedford Trio is already thrilling audiences with their dynamic, elegant, and energetic performances. The group’s repertoire ranges from the classic piano trios of Beethoven and Brahms to contemporary works by Canadian and International composers, and they are committed to commissioning and performing new repertoire by both established and emerging composers.
The Bedford Trio was founded by award winning instrumentalists Alessia Disimino (violin), Andrew Ascenzo (cello), and Jialiang Zhu (piano) and is currently based in Toronto, Canada. All three members are former prize winners of the University of Toronto’s Felix Galimir Chamber Music Award competition, and Jialiang was a semi-finalist at the 2016 E-Gré Contemporary Music Competition in Brandon, Manitoba. Alessia is a recent graduate of the Master of Music in Performance program at the University of Toronto, while Andrew and Jialiang are currently pursuing their Doctorate of Musical Arts degrees at U of T.
The Bedford Trio is devoted to bringing live music into the community, and performs regularly in hospital in-patient units, community centres, retirement homes, and schools as part of their ongoing musical outreach initiatives. All members are avid music educators with active private studios, and appear as guest instructors at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music and various music festivals in Ontario throughout the year.
